Collection: Tea Bowl

The last potter of Shokeizan-yaki studied tea ceremony under Takatori Sheizan in Fukuoka. This collection deals mainly with Shokeizan-yaki, which was highly regarded for its quality of tea ceremony utensils.

The late Umeo Yamamoto, after taking over the traditional Iwami pottery business, also produced a variety of tea ceremony utensils. 

Some of his works have beautiful Shinsha (cinnabar) by yo-hen (deformation of ceramic ware) that have been repeatedly produced in the kiln.
